Description: This piece uses just 21 horizontal lines to depict the calm waters at Siesta Park beach, located on Geographe Bay in Western Australia. I used to holiday there annually with my family when I was a boy. On a recent visit, I took a snap on my phone of the waveless ocean. I pixelated the image and stretched the resulting squares into a vista. I then colour-matched each of the 21 lines, applying the paint in thin layers to avoid any brush strokes or texture, retaining a digital look which imbues the piece with a sense of serenity (visitors to Siesta know the feeling).
