108. Ludlow Backyard

Artwork number: 108
Artist: Debbie Oakley
Medium: Oil/Acrylic on canvas
Description: The painting depicts a corner of our property at Ludlow in late August at sunset. The kangaroos are regular and welcome visitors
Artist statement: My work is an expression of my ideas about the domestic and the wild, the cultivated and the natural, and how they are inexorably linked. Ludlow Tuart Forest has been reworked by humans through logging and agriculture, but humans are now recognising the damage done and working to preserve what is left of this special place. As a local resident, I hope to contribute to this ongoing work by making our property a safe and friendly space for the native wildlife.
