121. On the Periphery

Artwork number: 121
Artist: Donna Price
Medium: Acrylic/Gouache
Description: Landscape
Artist statement: I like to paint with a rich colour palette depicting the world around me. For this painting I used Acrylic/Gouache on board. Gouache is a dry opaque medium and works well to help depict the dry hot aspects of Western Australia. Painting this scene reminded me of the many road trips down south, observing trees on the side of the road, perched on dry rocky outcrops overlooking farmland. I wonder about our shrinking forests and I hope this painting evokes the feeling of coming out of a dark forest and into the warm sunlight on the periphery.
