Artist statement: Growing up in Western Australia, some of my most treasured memories are of family picnics and road trips through the Southwest, where the landscape became an enduring source of inspiration. This painting celebrates the delicate desert wreaths that emerge against the vastness of the red earth, their vibrant pinks and greens offering moments of unexpected beauty. Textured brushwork and a winding dirt road evoke the ruggedness of the landscape and the journeys that connect us to place. Through this work, I honour the natural beauty of Western Australia and the memories, family connections, and creative beginnings that continue to shape my artistic practice.
